Sundays

Introduction

Please read this first due to the pandemic outbreak

Worship Service is central to our life together and we gather every week to focus, or refocus, on the truth of God’s word and the grace we have through Jesus Christ. Sunday worship follows the Lutheran liturgical tradition. Sometimes the service is more formal, sometimes less so. We celebrate Holy Communion twice a month. Normally on the first and third Sundays, but the schedule does change to accommodate Festival Sundays. We use music from the Evangelical Lutheran Worship hymnal and incorporate both classic and some contemporary music. Every Sunday there is a Children’s Message after the reading of the Gospel.

During the Sunday School year (September through May) the children go to their Sunday School classes after the children’s message. Some families find Nursery works best for the youngest members of their family. Our Nursery is open normally 15 minutes before worship and is available for children 2 years old or younger.

Choir and Music

Our music and worship leadership team oversees all music for worship services, trains Liturgical Assistants and arranges for Readers. The group maintains the Altar Guild and assists the pastor in planning and organizing worship services. We use our Choir, Liturgical Assistants and Altar Guild to weave the various musical threads in our diverse community into a living tapestry of praise and thanksgiving. Every year we arrange musical events outside of regular worship services, like our Christmas concert and special events.

Join us! The Choir meet at 10:00 am Sunday mornings before Worship for a brief rehearsal and you are more than welcome to drop-in. Send an email to worship(a)alcoslo.org
