Week 6 Mark 11 to Mark 13

February 16, 2020

Summary

The entire Gospel of Mark is being presented in Sunday worship, from

January 12 through March 1. Today’s presentation starts with verse 7 of

chapter 11 and goes through the end of Mark chapter 13. Here are some

key passages:

My Temple will be called a house of prayer for the people of all

nations.

Have faith in God. I assure you that whoever tells this hill to get up

and throw itself in the sea and does not doubt in his heart, but

believes that what he says will happen, it will be done for him.

When you pray and ask for something, believe that you have received it,

and you will be given whatever you ask for.

Last of all, then, he sent his son to the tenants. “I am sure they will

respect my son,” he said.

Well, then, pay to the Emperor what belongs to the Emperor, and pay to

God what belongs to God.

He is the God of the living, not of the dead.

The most important commandment is this: “Listen, Israel! The Lord our

God is the only Lord. Love the Lord your God with all your heart, with

all your soul, with all your mind, and with all your strength.” The

second most important commandment is this: “Love your neighbor as you

love yourself.” There is no other commandment more important than these

two.

The others put in what they had to spare of their riches; but she, poor

as she is, put in all she had – she gave all she had to live on.

For the words you speak will not be yours; they will come from the Holy

Spirit.

Then the Son of Man will appear, coming in the clouds with great power

and glory.

Heaven and earth will pass away, but my words will never pass away.

Be on watch, be alert, for you do not know when the time will come.

What I say to you, then, I say to all: Watch!
