Come join us for a morning seminar about Messiah by Georg Friedrich Handel.

This years Messiah sing-along at ALC is being produced to benefit Sabona, a charity organization in Zimbabwe with its roots right here in the American Lutheran Congregation. This fall's Super Saturday will be devoted to learning about Handel's masterwork, Messiah. Messiah was first performed in 1742 as a benefit concert for those in debtor's prison; from its very premiere it has been used to raise capital and awareness for those in need. On Super Saturday, we'll talk about Messiah: its history and traditions, as well as unique place in music history as virtually the only oratorio to use old testament texts to tell the story of the life and ministry of Jesus.  We'll also have Ynghild Solholm with us to give us background and updates on her work in Zimbabwe with Sabona.

We’ll begin at 10:00 (9:30 Bagels, Coffee & Tea) Lunch will be at 12:30.
