The New Life Preparatory School was established in the year 2000 with six children and had the sole aim of providing a sound educational background within a Christian context. Pastor David Gbulo Sakara (photo) is the proprietor and director of the school and lives with his family on the campus. The school is in the West Gonja District of the Northern Region, which is among the most deprived areas in the country, especially in terms of education. The educational facilities are poor to inadequate with most children sitting on the floor in overcrowded classrooms. The school has over 600 pupils and a staff that includes 12 teachers, 2 cooks and a director. Although a majority of the students come from Muslim and Traditionalist homes, the school includes Christian scripture teachings and worship each Wednesday and Friday. Due to the practice of polygamy and economic poverty many of the children do not receive proper care in education, clothing, health and nutrition. The school, therefore, tries to keep the tuition low. Collection of tuition and school fees is difficult for many and results in a chain effect that causes the teachers salaries and payment thereof to be substandard and inconsistent.
