The Reverend Stephan Kienberger is the current pastor of ALC. His brief statement of theology and mission follows:

mariapeaceThe Apostle Paul writes that in Christ God was reconciling the world to himself, and entrusting to us the message of reconciliation. We are, therefore, ambassadors for Christ, God making God’s appeal through us (2Cor. 5:16-21). My goal in ministry is to be such an ambassador for Christ.

It is a great honor to be ordained into the ministry of Word and Sacrament. My ministry in the Church, however, is only one among the many and various ministries in the priesthood of all believers. I enjoy congregational ministry and have had the opportunity through travel, studies, and work to experience many different cultures and aspects of Christian life and witness. I recognize, too, my need for continual growth in the Christian faith and education in the skills of ordained ministry. As I seek to be truthful to the Gospel and to my calling to Word and Sacrament ministry, I recognize that I require the mutual ministry of the community of faith. In spite of my own frailties, however, I am committed to spreading the Gospel of God’s love in Christ Jesus for all and the vision of a new humanity in Christ Jesus. This is a vision which is held by the community of faith, to whom I am accountable and with whom I share in the gifts of God.

Pastor Kienberger has served parishes in the Caribbean, Germany and the United States. He has also served with his spouse as a short term missionary with the Peace Centre for the Blind in Shofat just north of Jerusalem. His ministry with the ALC has taken him to Ghana to support the congregation's projects there. In Norway Pastor Kienberger has been called upon to advocate for asylum seekers and refugees, who are members of the congregation, as well as, working ecumenically with partner organizations in Oslo and Europe.
