Born May 21, 1891 to Hans and Martha Torsvold, Skjold near Haugesund, Norway. Immigrated to Centerville, S.D. in 1909. He also lived for a few years in Canada, but returned to Centerville. m. Beata Risanger of Newman Grove, Neb. at the Hauge Lutheran Church in Chicago, Mar. 13, 1926.She came from Norway in 1906. They lived for a long time near Centerville, but later bought a farm near Volin, S.D. Died Oct. 13, 1953. Sons: Marvin, professor at Huron College, S.D., and Harlan, instructor in high school at Irene, S.D.Honored by wife Mrs. Beata Hanson, Volin, S.D.
