Born Jan. 18, 1887, Dalton, Minn, to Ole O and Martha (Viger) Stavos. Married Karen M. Johnson, 1913.

Northwestern College., 1905-08; St. Olaf College, 1908-10; United Church Seminary, St. Paul, 1910-13; Ordained 1913, United Church. L'Alliance Francaise, Paris, France, 1920-21. Pastor at Halma, Minn. 1913-15; Thief River Falls, Minn., 1915-1917; Hillsboro, N.D., 1917-20, Missionary to Madagascar, 1920-39, pastor at Vancouver, Wash., 1940-44; Venturia, Cal., 1944-45; back to Madagascar, 1945-52. The last four years, professor at L'Ecole Pastorale, Ivory, Fianarantsoa, Madagascar.
To USA in 1952. On faculty of Luther Seminary, Saskatoon, Saskatchewan, Canada, 1954-56. Editor of commentaries in the Malagasy language~ Epistle to the Hebrews; Epistle of James, First Peter.
