Born July 25, 1840, Ringebu, near Favang, Norway. Married Beret Olsdatter Elvestad, 1863. Immigrated 1866, to Pilot Mound Twp. Fillmore Co., Minn. Naturalized 1897. Four of his children died in infancy. Others are: Ole and Oliver, Sarles, N.D.; Alfred, Regent, N.D.; Mrs. Landskov, Minneapolis; Mathias, Fillmore Co.; Mrs. J.A. Garrison, Carlstadt, Alta., Canada.

A brother: Lars Romsaas, Lowry, Minn.

His wife died Sept. 23, 1882. Torger died Nov. 19, 1910, Minneapolis.

He was an ardent Christian, and supported two Lutheran congregations in Fillmore County.
