SOREN and LAURA KOLTVEITaltKOLTVEIT, SOREN KOLTVEIT Born Nov. 13, 1868, Vats, Stavanger, Norway. Immigrated at age 18 to Iowa. Returned to Norway in 1901. Married Laura Meta Karine Eide, (b. Dec. 4, 1874) Jan. 20, 1902, at Vats.
They were both baptized, confirmed, and married in the Lutheran Church at Vats. Soon after marriage they settled in Forest City, la., where he was a carpenter. In 1910 they moved to a farm near Thompson, la.; retired in 1914. Soren died Dec. 6, 1946; Karine died May 2, 1952.

Soren's brothers and sisters: Bjorn; Berta; Nels, Clarion, la.; Tores, Eagle Grove, la.; Sønneva (married  Froyland); Johannes, Forest City, la. Karine's: Ellen (m. Rasmus Hapness); Berta (m. Jacob Sorbo);
Olina (m. Cornelius Hansen); Bronla (m. Faltin Stokke, after his death immigrated to D.S.A. and later married Enoch Moland) .

Children: Benjamin, pastor; Margaret Cecelia (married Rev. Andr. Oakland), missionaries in Cameroun; Ingeborg, teacher at Waldorf College; Henrietta Bertina, nurse, Luth. Hosp., Fort Dodge, la.;
Edith (married Theo. Moland), Malta, Ill.; Clara Sophia (married Rev. Reidar Haakonson); Olga (married  Rev. Merrill Gilbertson); Burlette (married Wayne Dodd); Sylvia Berniece (married Holger Holmen); Blanche (married Rev. WaIter Wahl) .

Twenty nine grandchildren (June 1965).
