MATHIAS and MARTHE were betrothed in Norway.  He preceded her to America, earned enough money for her ticket to America. They were married in 1894. To this union were born eight children, of whom three died in infancy. Children: Christine and Hannah, Cranfils Gap, Texas; Johnnie and otto, Midland, Texas; Olaf, Waco, Texas. Honored by son Olaf, Waco, Texas.

"We the children are very grateful for their courage, their patient endurance of hardships in a new and strange land, in order that we can live in peace and freedom. But this is superceded by the Lutheran Christian teachings that we all hold dear, and forever take us back to the time when we were taught,
"Gud bøie mit unge hjerte til en sand Gudsfrygt og Kunskab."
